A subject that, at least in the primary and secondary schools of the Alto Valle de Rio Negro and Neuquén (Argentina), forms part of the prescribed and taught curriculum; it has a classic presence in school editorial proposals and in teaching practices at these educational levels in the region. The purpose of this article is to communicate a material that contributes to its teaching, initially distinguishing some aspects of what is known about the subject, then identifying some problems and challenges in its teaching and raising the perspectives and didactic foundations that guided its development. Finally, the material is presented and some aspects of it are highlighted in concrete experiences in teacher training and in its use with primary school students. Actualmente, existe una variada producción de conocimientos que ha enriquecido lo que se sabe sobre la conquista del Wallmapu entre 1879 y 1885. Un tema que, al menos en las escuelas primarias y secundarias del Alto Valle de Rio Negro y Neuquén (Argentina), forma parte del curriculum prescripto y enseñado; tiene una clásica presencia en propuestas editoriales escolares y en las prácticas de enseñanza en estos niveles educativos de la región. El propósito de este artículo es comunicar un material que contribuya a su enseñanza, inicialmente distinguiendo algunos aspectos sobre lo que se sabe del tema, luego identificando algunos problemas y desafíos en su enseñanza y planteando las perspectivas y fundamentos didácticos que orientaron su elaboración. Finalmente, se presenta el material y se destacan algunos alcances del mismo en experiencias concretas en la formación del profesorado y en su utilización con estudiantes de escuelas primarias.
