In this article, we aim to analyze the creation of new national universities that took place between 1971 and 1973 within the framework of the Gran Acuerdo Nacional. We will emphasize on the context of a strong process of political radicalization in which youth was very important. For this, we will use primary and secondary sources. Specifically we will resort to personal interviews, national newspapers, and official university documents (development plans, laws, educational policies, among others). El período inaugurado por Lanusse en mayo de 1971 marcó un giro en la política nacional y, consecuentemente, en la vida universitaria. En este artículo nos proponemos analizar el proceso de creación de universidades nacionales que se llevó a cabo entre 1971 y 1973 en el marco del Gran Acuerdo Nacional, haciendo especial hincapié en el contexto de un fuerte proceso de radicalización política en el que la juventud ocupaba un rol destacado. Para ello, utilizaremos fuentes primarias y secundarias. Específicamente, recurriremos a entrevistas personales, diarios de tirada nacional, y documentos oficiales atinentes a la vida universitaria (planes de desarrollo, leyes, políticas educativas, entre otros).
