By the means of a comparative lecture, this analysis will allow us to discern common aspects in the texts: the nostalgia and the desire which this journey originates and, particularly, the transformation of one in another. Este trabajo propone trazar una serie de relaciones entre textos fundacionales de la literatura inglesa y The waste land de T. S. Eliot a partir de un tema recurrente en esta tradición: “el viaje por agua”. El análisis de los procedimientos empleados en cada texto permitirá, mediante una lectura comparativa, iluminar mutuamente aspectos en común: la nostalgia y el deseo que el viaje por agua suscita y, en especial, la transformación de uno en otro.
