Both authors appeal in these Works to memory, both on a thematic level and as a constructive procedure, establishing the fragmentation that is characteristic of them as a mode of the story. In turn, an ideological core sustains them: how violence operates in the absence of the state. In the case of David Viñas, the army and white guards are the armed wing of the sectors of the oligarchy that shoot the worker-strikers; and in Selva Armada’s novel, the state abandonment in a distant, bordering space is the cause of a violence that operates as a vital matrix, naturalized on the one hand and, on the other, conceived as the only form of significance of existence. Este trabajo explora los modos de representación de las violencias asociadas al mundo del trabajo en dos momentos del realismo narrativo en Argentina: las novelas Los dueños de la tierra y En la semana trágica de David Viñas, publicadas en 1958 y 1966 respectivamente; y Ladrilleros de Selva Almada, de 2013. Ambos autores apelan en estas obras a la memoria, tanto a nivel temático como a manera de procedimiento constructivo, estableciendo la fragmentariedad que le es característica como modo del relato. A su vez, un núcleo ideológico las sustenta: cómo opera la violencia ante la ausencia del Estado. En el caso de David Viñas, ejército y guardias blancas son el brazo armado de los sectores de la oligarquía que fusilan a los obreros−huelguistas; y en la novela de Selva Almada, el abandono estatal en un espacio distante, fronterizo, es la causa de una violencia que opera como matriz vital, por un lado naturalizada y, por otro, concebida como única forma de significatividad de la existencia.
