Tenderness is an important concept for both general and specific reasons. Despite the boom in affect theory in the humanities, very little attention has been paid to it, indeed theory vacillates between «emotion» and «affect» in classifying tenderness. It seems to conform to affect theory’s notions of impersonality and non-subjectivity; but at the same time, it is recognized as an emotion that can be named and ascribed to a person. Tenderness is an individual and shared experience, an awareness of the vulnerability and porosity of persons, and stretches over the physical and the emotional, the personal and the social. As we will see in Ciocchini’s case, it has important links with the disturbance of the senses, and the relationship between pain and creativity. Here we see the presence of Aby Warburg’s thought, and his Pathosformeln, or formulas of pathos, or feeling, as described by the German art historian in his monumental Atlas Mnemosyne. Este texto investiga la presencia de la ternura en la poesía y crítica del argentino Héctor Ciocchini. La ternura es un concepto clave por motivos generales y específicos. A pesar del «boom» en los estudios afectivos en las humanidades, se ha prestado muy poca atención a ella y, es más, la teoría vacila entre «emoción» y «afecto» al clasificarla. Parece conformar con los conceptos de la teoría de los afectos (en inglés affect theory) sobre lo impersonal y la nosubjetividad; pero al mismo tiempo se reconoce como una emoción que se puede nombrar y adscribir a una persona. La ternura es una experiencia específica y compartida, la conciencia de la vulnerabilidad y la porosidad de las personas, que se extiende sobre lo físico y lo emocional, lo personal y lo social. Como veremos en el caso de Ciocchini, guarda importantes vínculos con la perturbación de los sentidos, y la relación entre dolor y creatividad. Aquí vemos la presencia de la filosofía de Aby Warburg, y sus Pathosformelm, o fórmulas de pathos, o sentimiento, como describe el historiador del arte en su monumental Atlas Mnemosyne, importante referencia para la poesía de Ciocchini.
