However, art exhibits have a difficult relationship with sunlight, as its variability makes for complications to control it, such as potential glare to occupants and artwork conservation issues due to overexposure to light.  In this research I explore the luminous qualities of such spaces in Arica, Santiago and Punta Arenas to create a luminous ambience that allows for the artwork preservation without affecting the wellbeing of visitors. Through the measure of dynamic daylight metrics, findings show the best results to attain a comfortable luminous ambient were UDI 100-3000lux and ASE 1000/250hours . The daylight Glare Probability (DGP) index was used to rate human visual comfort, along with the UDI 0-200lux and ASE 1000/0hours modified metrics which allowed to rate the luminous security for artwork. From the results’ analysis, I concluded that the key factor is illuminance range max tolerance of 200 lux (IESNA, 2011), excluding direct daylight, accepting an imperceptible DGP percentage. La iluminación natural aporta importantes beneficios en los espacios arquitectónicos, otorgando dinamismo y enriqueciendo la experiencia de los ocupantes en los aspectos de salud y comodidad lumínica y visual, mientras promueve la sustentabilidad energética. Sin embargo, los recintos de exposición de arte sostienen una relación compleja con la iluminación diurna, cuya variabilidad provoca problemas respecto a su control, entre estos, el potencial deslumbramiento de los ocupantes y el riesgo para la conservación de las obras por sobreexposición lumínica. En esta investigación se exploran las características lumínicas de estos espacios en las ciudades de Arica, Santiago y Punta Arenas para conformar un ambiente luminoso que permita resguardar las obras sin faltar al bienestar de los visitantes. Conforme a los hallazgos de la investigación los indicadores que muestran mejores resultados para lograr un ambiente luminoso confortable fueron UDI100-3000lux y ASE1000/250horas. Para calificar el confort visual se evaluó el indicador DGP (Daylight Glare Probability), además de los indicadores modificados UDI0-200lux y ASE1000/0horas para evaluar la seguridad lumínica de las obras. A partir del análisis de resultados, se concluyó que para la exposición pictórica, el factor clave fue el rango de iluminancia tolerado hasta 200 lux (IESNA,2011), que excluye la luz solar directa, aceptando un porcentaje DGP imperceptible.
