Examples of this can be found in the great classical writers’ works, shown in a gradation that starts off with simple boasting up to the most severe level of pride against the gods.  Pseudo-Justin Martyr’s writings rescue the classic concept of ὕβρις, redefining it to censor those who opposed Christian orthodoxy. El mundo griego clásico condenó claramente la conducta desmesurada. Ejemplos de esto pueden hallarse en las obras de los grandes escritores clásicos, en una gradación que parte de la simple fanfarronería hasta acabar en el nivel más grave, la soberbia contra los dioses. Los escritos del Pseudo-Justino Mártir rescatan el concepto clásico de ὕβρις, resignificándolo para censurar a quienes se oponían a la ortodoxia cristiana.
