This analysis is done from the theoretical and methodological perspectives of systemic functional linguistics, in particular some ideational and textual resources. The analysis reveals that grammatical metaphor (experiential and logic) builds a specialized language in the disciplines through taxonomies and information packaging. In their explanations, writersutilize language resources for building abstraction and generalization that tend to couple ideational and interpersonal meanings, generating a semantic density and heteroglossic orientation. Este artículo aborda distintas funciones de la metáfora gramatical en los patrones argumentativos de textos académicos de antropología y sociología. El análisis se realiza desde las perspectivas teórico-metodológicas de la Lingüística Sistémico Funcional, en particular desde algunos recursos ideacionales y textuales. El análisis revela que la metáfora ideacional (experiencial y lógica) construye un lenguaje especializado en las disciplinas a través de taxonomías y empaquetamiento de información. En sus explicaciones los autores utilizan recursos del lenguaje, para construir abstracción y generalización, en los que tienden a acoplar significados ideacionales e interpersonales, generando textos con densidad semántica y heteroglosia.
