La vivienda de interés social asume un papel significativo en la conformación de la trama urbana de la ciudad, manifestado por la materialización de conjuntos barriales llevado adelante a través de las operatorias implementadas por entidades crediticias. El gobierno peronista entre 1946 y 1955, dentro de un importante plan de obras públicas posicionó a la construcción de vivienda de interés social en un lugar relevante. Su caída en 1955 generó un cambio en la orientación de las políticas de vivienda social en el espacio nacional. El apoyo a los sistemas de ahorro interno y de la Alianza para el Progreso caracterizaron los lineamientos llevados adelante. Materializados a principios de la década del 70, los barrios “Plan VEA” y “300 viviendas” se localizan al sur del área central de la ciudad de Corrientes, con un entorno urbano que en los últimos años experimentó cambios por la ocupación de espacios inicialmente libres de edificación.
